Terms of Use
Effective 26 August 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ECG Lab iOS application and the ecglab.app website (together, the “Service”), provided by ECG Lab (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
ECG Lab reads electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings that you have already made with your Apple Watch and stored in Apple Health, analyzes them on your iPhone, and presents measurements, findings, trends, explanatory content and shareable reports. Some features require a Premium purchase (see section 4).
2. Informational use only; no medical relationship
- All outputs of the Service — including rhythm findings, premature-beat detection, QT/QTc and HRV values, trends, AI-generated explanations and reference content — are provided for general information and education only.
- Single-lead, 30-second Watch recordings have inherent limits. Automated analysis can miss findings or report findings that are not present. A result that looks normal does not mean you are healthy, and a flagged result does not mean you are ill.
- Use of the Service does not create a doctor–patient or any other professional relationship. Always seek the advice of a qualified health professional with any questions about a medical condition, and never disregard or delay seeking professional advice because of something shown in the app.
- Do not use the Service to make decisions about starting, stopping or changing any medication or treatment.
3. Eligibility and your account with Apple
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to use the Service. The app is distributed through the Apple App Store; your use is also subject to Apple’s Media Services Terms. There is no ECG Lab account.
4. Premium, subscriptions and payments
- Plans. Premium is offered as an auto-renewing monthly subscription, an auto-renewing annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are displayed in the app in your local currency before you buy.
- Free trial. Where offered, the monthly and annual subscriptions include a 3-day free trial. Your Apple ID is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Lifetime purchases have no trial.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before renewal.
- Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel subscriptions at any time in your iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Payments are processed by Apple and refunds are handled under Apple’s policies. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Restoring purchases. Use “Restore Purchases” in the app on any device signed into the same Apple ID.
- Changes. We may change Premium features or prices for future periods. Price changes for existing subscribers follow Apple’s notice and consent rules.
5. Your data and privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses and what happens to it. In short, your ECG data is analyzed and stored on your device; derived measurements are sent to our AI service only when you request an explanation. By using the AI explanation feature you consent to that transmission.
6. Licence and acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in line with Apple’s usage rules. You agree not to:
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile or create derivative works of the Service except where the law expressly permits;
- circumvent purchase or entitlement checks, or use the Service to provide a competing analysis service;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that could harm the Service or other users;
- use the Service to provide medical services to third parties, or present its outputs as a clinical diagnosis.
7. AI-generated content
Explanations generated by the AI feature are produced automatically by a large-language model from the measurements in your recording. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and are not reviewed by a clinician before you see them. Treat them as a starting point for a conversation with a health professional, not as advice.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, analysis algorithms, design, text and reference content, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Your recordings and the reports you generate from them are yours. Apple, Apple Watch, iPhone, HealthKit and the App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc.; ECG Lab is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that its outputs will be accurate, complete or clinically meaningful.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, health outcome, or medical decision arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Apple as third-party beneficiary
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to it, including product liability, regulatory compliance or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if you breach these Terms. Sections 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 14 survive termination.
13. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may modify the Service and may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page; continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the competent courts of Cairo, Egypt — except that if you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law gives you mandatory protections or the right to sue in your local courts, those rights are unaffected.
